Exploring the archaeology, landscape and history of Slane, Co. Meath

Free Hill of Slane Tours 2015

The 2015 tourist season is upon us. The newly formed Hill of Slane Tour Guides group has been practicing all over the winter and is now offering free tours of the Hill of Slane each Saturday and Sunday at 2pm throughout the summer season.

Groups can be accommodated outside of these times if you get in touch.

Why not come along and take in the magnificent views across Co. Meath (weather permitting!); hear of the legendary exploits of St Patrick against King Laoighre’s druids; learn about the major monastery that existed on the site complete with round tower and high crosses, learn about the Hill of Slane in prehistoric times; find out where the first Slane Castle was located and much more. Visitors can also get information on the recent archaeological surveys and geophysics carried out by the Hill of Slane Archaeological Project.

Tours will take about an hour, maybe more depending on the level of interest! Please dress for the weather, this is an open site. Also, please wear appropriate footwear.
