Exploring the archaeology, landscape and history of Slane, Co. Meath

International Fieldschool for Hill of Slane 8th-13th April

A major international archaeological field school will take place in Slane, focusing on the Hill of Slane, in April. The course titled An Introduction to Multi-Method Archaeological Site Survey: Surface Collection and Remote Sensing  is aimed at graduates from an archaeology or earth sciences background.

This course is being run in cooperation with the ArchaeoLandscapes Europe Project with the assistance of the Discovery Programme and the Irish Archaeology Field School and full details may be accessed here:

The course will introduce surface collection, low level aerial photography, upstanding building recording and a range of archaeological geophysical techniques. It will provide an understanding of the principles of and hands-on experience of the basic field operation of the techniques. There will also be instruction in data processing, data interpretation and reporting.
